| New Spotty Dog 1988History / Tourism Cape Town, South Africa. The original Spotted Dog, built during World War 2, became a popular roadhouse and landmark. In the 1970's, it was hit by a truck and had to be demolished. In 1988, a smaller version of the famous dog was moved because of building work on the site. Later the same year, a new, 2m high Spotty Dog was back on the site with Baby Spotty at its side. Baby Spotty was later removed due to repeated vandalism and now guards the front door of the land owners offices a few kilometers away. Contributions to this site are very welcome.
